The wise men were very clever people from the East who read and believed God’s word (the Bible). They studied the stars and were waiting for God to send a sign that Jesus had been born.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2, the Bible.
They went on a long journey to find Jesus, and when they found him they were so excited! They brought him expensive and meaningful gifts from afar to show just how special this child was.
