What’s your favourite Christmas song?
We asked some of our CCT friends for their favourite Christmas song or carol, and why they liked it!
Here’s what they said …
I Celebrate the Day (Relient K)
“This song, by punk-rock band Relient K, reflects on the earth-shattering event of Jesus’ arrival as a helpless baby on earth. And the first breath that left Your lips / Did You know that it would change this world forever? He was born to start a rescue mission and to became the solution to the brokenness in our lives; our sin. He was born to die for us! I celebrate the day / That You were born to die / So I could one day pray for You to save my life.”
From the Squalor of a Borrowed Stable
“I love this carol as it captures great Christian truths that are bigger than just the joy of Christmas Day itself. Beginning at Christmas, it is a reminder of all that Jesus won for us, and an even greater joy still yet to come!”
O Holy Night
“I love this song because it captures the anticipation of a long-awaited event. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices. I’m reminded of the wonder of Christmas โ that Jesus, the Son of God, left heaven and all its riches and was born in a stable. O night divine. He gladly become human to save us. Chains shall He break!”
Silent Night
“This has got wonderful memories for me as I’ve heard it every Christmas since I was a child. I used to enjoy playing it on the piano, and I find the lyrics and melody so soothing and comforting. (Son of God, love’s pure light.)”
Calypso Carol
“This is a simple modern carol with an uplifting and joyful tune. The lyrics tell of the coming of Jesus and all that he is to us. It reminds me of all the Christmas school concerts we’ve been to โ singing together in church, with joy, happiness and hope.”
