You will need

One sheet of ready rolled puff pastry (320g)

Choose from any of these fillings:

Grated parmesan and/or cheddar (~30g)

Thinly sliced
prosciutto or ham

Sliced olives

Chopped sundried tomatoes

Pesto

(Or make it sweet with butter, sugar, dried fruit and mixed spice!)

Method

  1. Lay out the pastry and spread the fillings over the entire surface. 
  2. From the long edge, roll up the pastry until you reach the middle. Then roll up the other side into the middle so that they meet like a scroll! 
  3. Brush a little milk down the centre of the crease. 
  4. Wrap the whole thing tightly in greaseproof paper and leave it in the fridge for 30 mins or so. 
  5. Take it out of the fridge and cut into slices about 1.5cm thick. Lay them flat on baking trays lined with greaseproof paper and brush with milk or beaten egg.  
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°c for 10-12 mins till golden brown and puffed. Watch them as they burn quickly!
