Who was Thomas?
Thomas was one of Jesus’ best friends (1 of 12). Like all his other friends, Thomas was really sad when Jesus was killed.
He is famously known as ‘Doubting Thomas’ and here’s why…
What happened?
When Jesus came back to life, he appeared to his best friends! (But Thomas wasn’t there.)
When Thomas came back, his friends said, “We’ve seen Jesus! He was just here!”
But Thomas didn’t believe them. He said, “I won’t believe you, unless I see him for myself and see the holes in his hands and feet from where the nails were.”
8 days later, Jesus appeared to them again! This time, Thomas was there. Jesus said to him, “Thomas, look at me! Touch the holes in my hands and see for yourself that I am really alive!” So Thomas felt the holes in his hands and he believed!
Do we need to see/touch Jesus?
Jesus said to Thomas, “You believe because you have seen me. But those who believe without seeing me are blessed!”
We don’t need to see or touch Jesus to know he is alive. We have the testimony of others who have seen him, and we can believe too!
